It yields a point of maximum intensity in the centre of the light beam and a very broad corona to guarantee maximum possible light diffusion. On manual focus flashlights either a maximum focus point or a wide corona can be chosen. The number of lumens of a flashlight is solely a partial indicator of its performance, as this only gives an idea of the light amount obtained at a specific point. What really needs to be taken into account is both the light intensity of the whole light beam focused on a target, and the flashlight's reach.
